David Lee’s Deal Is Finally Done!!!

David Lee Dunk According to David Lee and the Knicks have reached an agreement on a one-year $8 Million deal which includes $1 Million in team-related incentives.

Alan Hahn of Newsday reports that the team related incentive is that the $1 Million dollar bonus is triggered if the Knicks make the playoffs. Now, Walsh has finally done something brilliant or at least something that is common sense.  If this is the same incentive that Walsh gave to Robinson, he has guaranteed that both players will not play like lame ducks but play hard and exert themselves as team leaders as they should.  As a fan, I am thrilled that they have been given and have accepted the challenge of incentives.  Of course, this can be detrimental if Walsh and D’Antoni are not on the same page; last year they were not on the same page regarding Stephon Marbury in training camp and the importance of defense to winning consistently.

It was also very important that both Nate and Lee receive contracts above the qualifying offer.   Knicks management’s treatment of their homegrown players sends a message to the rest of the players in the league.  Walsh and D’Antoni’s treatment of Stephon Marbury at the  beginning of last season did not go unnoticed and was criticized by players and former-players alike.  While fans think that Marbury deserved to be treated as poorly as he treated the Knicks, players are concerned about how such actions might reflect on how they or their teammates would be treated after the honeymoon period. The Knicks’ treatment of both Lee and Robinson, after they have demonstrated their loyalty through difficult times, has been less than stellar, but Walsh’s decision to provide one year contracts beyond the qualifying offer shows some loyalty on his part which may be rewarded by the players when he renounces their Bird Rights next year in order to get a highly skilled free agent.  Renunciation does not necessarily need to end up in losing unrestricted free agents if they are on board with the plan.

Hopefully, neither Nate nor Lee are insulted by how they were treated during the off-season because they really are important parts of the Knicks efforts to establish a winning tradition and a place favorable towards players.

I have long believed that Nate Robinson would return regardless of what the Beats claimed was happening between D’Antoni and Nate.  The Knicks did not look at any player that could fulfill Nate’s role off the bench as a spark plug and tempo changer.  There is not a single player that the Knicks courted that can take over the end-game like Nate.  Of course they looked at guards, but Walsh was looking for a point guard, not a two guard.   While I believe Nate would be better appreciated and better off in another venue, he is the Knicks best player until Galinari, Chandler, Hill or Douglas show consistent abilities on both sides of the ball.

    • Yeah! Boston and the rest of the NBA better watch out!

He’s locked up for one year, which means he’ll need to ak any trades involving him. And off course he could bolt next year considering the way the organization penny pinched him out of a long term deal that might have happened on 2008 when his value wasn’t as inflated.

      Patience hahaha!

  2. LIVES, YOU DID IT AGAIN HOMIE! What a week! My Brudder you took the high road and tried to uplift our spirits prior to our BELOVED KNICKS entering Training Camp. You provided the THREAD with up-to-date information and Some Ole School Sexy, Silky, Soft & Lovely’s… Man there’s nothing better than Hot Babes and BBALL..Synonymous!

I shared some thoughts on Turtle Wax Walsh’s Agenda earlier this week and I will repeat it. HE HAS BEEN PITCH PERFECT! Illustrated in the signings of our two YOUNGINS… Both must learn WINNING IS THE ONLY THING… Stats and Slam Dunk trophies are for the LAME, because you can make Stats say whatever you want them too and the other is just a gimmick to put Butts in Seats… And, I conur with you LIVES, He gave both a peck on the cheek, cause you got the LOVE THE ONES YOU’RE WITH, and simaltaneously provided that SWIFT KICK IN THE BUTT to bring these KNUCKLEHEAD BALLERS back to reality… YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME… All the other crap is BULLSYTE! Win, get PAID, lose, and someone else can pay your SORRY AZZ! That is reality for EVERY FANATIC ON THIS THREAD ON OUR DAY TO DAY GRINDs… Why should it be any different for these MOFOS!

Lastly, a lot of Fanatics expressed their thoughts and quite a bit of empathy for our Bro, Plax. And, I agree wholeheartedly, the punishment did not fit the crime…But, these YOUNG BUCKS are out of control Gents, and the Flames of Stupidity these Azzholes continue to fan is problematic and reflects poorly on Athletes and our Community. I will keep Bro. Plax and his Family in my prayers, but the choices this Brother has made overtime put him in a position for THE MAN to make an example of him… CHOICES CHOICES…Cause and Effect Fanatics! You must abide by the laws of the Universe, and PLAX is no exception…

The scales are not balance and we all know that, so DID PLAX… Remember, ‘IF IT DON’T MAKE DOLLARS IT DON”T MAKE SENSE’ His actions were not PROFITABLE… When that is the case, the CAPITALIST LEAVE YOUR AZZ HANGING OUT TO DRY…It’s a familiar saga…

BBALL is around the corner Fanatics, and Peaceman’s idea of hooking up is a good one and I left my reply to his offer. Holla Atcha your Boy if we plan to Proceed to give Fanatics what they Need…I’M THERE Have a great weekend Fanatics!

  3. David Lee will become a defensive force this year. Every year he has developed a new part to his game. If the coach tells him they need defense, David will give him million dollar defence, IMHO.

  4. I love those who can jam and soloist on stage are worth watching but what I’d prefer to see is a symphony on a grand scale. Can that happen in the current system?

I’m being cryptic fanatics but I sense you’ll all know what I’m alluding too. Or maybe not the Koolaid here has made many around these parts punch drunk!
