Knicks Top 10 Plays 2008-2009, Courtesy of NBA.com

It’s almost time folks.   As the debate about the efficacy of the so-called 2010 plan goes into repetitious overdrive, despite the quality of the 2009-10 home team, we are ready for some action.  Any action.  For the moment, we can look back and enjoy some of the best plays of last year’s campaign.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Skip Passes:

One Knick personnel move went slightly unnoticed yesterday:  The Athlon NBA preview magazine was released and this year the New York-New Jersey edition features Chris Duhon.  Chris Duhon moved to the status of Knicks model or model Knick. . . . I hope he has a great year. . . .  Fanatics might be interested in an opinion piece on Eddie Curry which appears at the Dime spot.  According to the headline, Eddie Curry will be a mini-beast in 09-10. I hope he has a great year too. . . . Cablevision, after announcing that it would spin off the Knicks and other assets, has just priced an offering of $900 million in notes so that it could repurchase stock from unit CSC Holdings Inc. Earlier Cablevision announced plans to sell $500 Million in notes. Shares rose 0.2% to $24.07 in after-hours trading. The stock is up 42% this year.  Curry, Duhon and Knicks fans may have bad years, but Dolan probably won’t, even in this economy. . . .Speaking of Cablevision which owns Newsday and the New York Knicks, it appears that the Fix’s (Newsday’s Knicks blog) aesthetics are repaired in the comment section, though the Knicks 2010 Plan promotional material in the sports commentary remains the same. . . . The Knicks 2010 Plan is really a basketball executive diet which will go on the market in 2011 even if it fails.  I can hear Donnie Walsh now: “Try K2012 and gain more cap space in your pants.  I lost 3 pounds, $30 million and one job in three off-seasons”. Just Bloggin, kinda, sorta.

Oh I forgot, Follow me on twitter so I can direct your azz back to this site.  Hey, don’t hate the playa, hate the game. LOL. Have a joyous day.

  1. Lives:
A good montage of highlights from last season; but among others, I liked the steal, followed by the behind the back dribble and dunk of David Lee against Indiana on January 2, 2009 :

See also the flying put back dunk by Nate Robinson against Boston on December 21, 2008:

Why are N8 and D Lee as yet unsigned for next season?
A few highlights here and there keeps hope alive. LGK

  2. Hey I seem to recall a Chandler dunk over Garnett and Lee’s one hand throw down against the Bucks as two additional plays that should have been included in the top 10.

    OBTW Lives,

Check your email I sent you those suggestions regarding the Knicks Fanatics Throw Back Cheerleading team.

  3. being extremly bummed out, this is my last blog till the season starts.i was so pumped up to get a new point guard and now i feel deflated that i have to watch chris duhon(noted party boy and gambler) throw games away, because he owes money to some guy with a severly bent nose!maybe the start of the season will give me some hope.the only way i can rebuild the team ,the way i want is to buy the KNICKS,and hire myself to be the GM(i would also hire a defensive minded coach because after all,WE ARE THE KNICKS!) well so long pals ,im off to drink the kool-aid.and for one final time DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHEN VERIZON FIOS IS GETTING THE NBA CHANNEL? SEE YOU IN SEASON GO KNICKERBOCKERS!

  4. Auggie,

Join us for the regular season and perhaps even some of the preseason scrums.

We run some Live Blog events that let you interact and post your thoughts in real time on the game day experience when our beloved team plays against their foes.

I agree with the last bit of your recent tirade…

“the only way i can rebuild the team ,the way i want is to buy the KNICKS,and hire myself to be the GM(i would also hire a defensive minded coach because after all,WE ARE THE KNICKS!)”

Well said Auggie, come back and check out my upcoming thread, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it and it might help you put all that koolaid in Perspective.

  5. Fanatics,

If we get a bigger dose of Chandler like in the above video, and Gallo’s back can help his game this year.We may get 20 wins……Let’s go Knicks.

    Kidd-Dallas
Hill-Phoenix(didn’t want the first 2 anyway)
    Miller-Portland
    Sessions-Minny…….but

Darko-New York…….we got them right where we want them.

Question:What would it mean when Gallo,Lee and Darko are in the game together?…and we may get Wally.

    Somebody help me …..PLEASE!!!

  6. …I sugesst we all take the “D” out of our names, like ‘Antoni did, thus:

    Just L T or L T Knicks

    Orange an Blue

    Stea_y

    E Rossman

    BronxinM

    …you get the point.

    • DLT,

If you are amongst the core of Knicks fans who still values and believes a commitment to defense- both coaching and executing it on the court- is a fundamental part of any Knick turn around, then I say to Capitalize the D in your moniker.

      E.g.,

      Orange an”D” Blue

      Just “D”LT

      Bronxboy in M”D”

      Stea”D”y

      Mo”D”i

It is the clowns who own and put together the mgt/coaching arm of the organization that should not have a D in their names.

      E.g.,

      James [ ]olan

      [ ]onnie Walsh

      Mike [ ]’antoni

      E[ ][ ]y Curry

      [ ]avid Lee

      etc etc.

  7. Isola-”

The latest LeBron to the Knicks rumor I’ve heard is that Cablevision – which owns the Knicks but not the Daily News – will circumvent the salary cap by giving LeBron his own channel. I don’t know exactly how that will work but that’s what I’ve heard. As of today, I say there is a 90 percent chance LeBron is coming to New York … and 100 percent chance that I won’t be watching the LeBron channel.

    New York Daily News

LeEmpire can’t be that dumb, but I like the concept, CIRCUMVENTING THE CAP.For ie. LB signs a contract with a foreign co., outside the USA,for its stock. The foreign co. promises the future trade or sale of stock in an NBA club it purchases at his retirement. The deal is financed by the NBA club through its holding companies.Meanwhile the foreign co, let’s speculate and call them Chinese holds onto the stock, makes money and learns the “game” from super mentor D.S., no, not the Dept. of Sanitation, the deal just smells like it.Makes a lot more sense than a LeBron TV station. He’s too smart for BS like that, maybe Cablevision or network stock.Interesting that Isola seems so positive about LB’s NYC arrival.Don’t count NJ/BK out yet.LBJ could double their stock price and that stadium is now moving back on the NYC board.LBJ’s style is buy low and sell high. Opportunity could be knocking there.90% is a big number. We all know Frank is not that funny. The plot continues to thicken.
