Lee’s Looking To Get The Hell Out Of Dodge, Gallo Is Ready To Play and Nate Just Wants To Sign His Contract
Training camp starts on September 28th. Nate Robinson is still not signed. David Lee wants to get paid so he is still seeking a sign and trade. (I can hear an insulted Lee now: “Let me get the funk out of Dodge.” You go boy!). And Gallo is ready to go to work. It’s getting close.
We are naming the week of September 20-25th “Knicks Spirit Week.” In commemoration of that week, this blogger will dedicate himself to saying only nice things about the Knicks’ dismal prospects for next season. I am going to ignore the top half of the half-empty glass and the soot at the bottom third and only look at the top of the juice. I am going to look at the sun and ignore the burning sensation on my skin. I am going to be Mr. Positive in a sea of negativity. I have already prepared our posts for the selection of our own Old School Dance-Spirit Team and a special instructive post for Knicks Fanatics to help you through the doldrums, the ups and downs and downs.
By the way, I am rooting for all of the Knicks, but I will be spending extra energy rooting for Gallinari because I like underdogs and Gallo is an underdog of a rooster.
Just a little programming tease. Mae West has already submitted her portfolio for the Fanatics Spirit Team along with 20 other ladies who plan to cheer you up next season.

That sounds just right. I’m going to be a cheery booster for a whole week and I don’t care what name you call this blog. In fact, I think I’m going to come up with some blogging rules, I mean guidelines, for the occasion. (I almost forgot for a second that Fanatics don’t know how to follow rules).
But Auggie, I’m surprised you didn’t complain about the woman, who until we say so, has nothing to do with the Knicks; especially given that Hahn’s fascination with Jessica Rabbit was getting on your nerves. Man, if you don’t think basketball and fine women go hand in hand, you might need to take a vacation next week. Because since the ladies won’t post with us, I’m beautifying the site myself next week. I’m going to need some stimulus package to get me through Spirit Week.

Lee looking to get out of Dodge may be real and Utah, according to ESPN, is rumored to be interested in a sign and trade. Of course, it would too much to hope for Deron Williams. Perhaps Walsh would be interested in Carlos Boozer or Paul Milsap or someone of lesser (cap space) value plus the return of our No 1 draft choice (which should be a high lottery pick)–the same pick once given up in return for Stephon Marbury. Walsh has less than two weeks to pick up the phone and call Lee’s agent or the Utah GM.

I see Mae West does have a little sometin’ somethin’ to do with the Knicks or some type of connection. She was a New York native born in 1893. The Knicks were founded in 1946. She was still doing a Broadway show, which was traveling, then. She died at age 87 in 1980 and was buried in Brooklyn.
Morris Almond will be in Magic Training Camp.

I agree with Peaceman.
Last year the Magic’s 2 guard, can’t recall the name off the top of my head, played very solidly in the playoff’s providing both outside shooting and a capable defensive presence.
Knicks have a chance to tie up Almond, probrably on the cheap, and BOOM the Magic may have bolstered their depth and productivity at the 2.
Walsh probrably had Almond right where he wanted him but the moments are all fleeting and his tortoise arse can’t capture the moment.

Bad misplay by Walsh here, assuming he had any leverage to keep Morris around.
Upside is that Almond was not a very good or very motivated defender, part of the reason why Jerry Sloan sat his ass waaay at the end of the bench in Utah.

1)Orlando is a an established winner
2)Vince will play the 3/4 depending on the matchups.
3) Orlando traded Courtney Lee who received the major minutes at the 4 in the Vince trade.
4)Almond’s biggest competition is JJ Reddick.
5)Dwight Howard requires double teams, which gives a shooter such as Almond an open jump-shot.
6)The Majic intend on making the playoffnext year.

2) I have always thought of Vince as a 2/3 swingman, not a tweener forward who slides up to 4
3) Courtney Lee most certainly did NOT play the majority of minutes at the 4, he started 47 games at SG
4) Almond’s biggest competition is Vince Carter. i think Mickael Pietrus may also be a factor at SG.
5) Agreed that Almond’s sweet stroke is valuable with a stud post player, gotta give the beast some room to operate
6) The Magic will make the playoffs next year, and Almond will be at the end of the bench in a bone-dry uni, waving a towel and wondering where his next contract is coming from as his prime developmental years start to slip away from him.
Basically, i see Orlando starting:
C: D. Howard
PF: B. Bass
SF: R. Lewis
SG: V. Carter
PG: J. Nelson
Gortat will soak up the majority of minutes as primary big off the bench….youngster Ryan Anderson will have to scrap for minutes at backup 4, since the Magic will obviously play some “small” ball with Rashard at the 4 & Vince at the 3. So in a way, Almond will have to compete with Reddick, Pietrus, Matt Barnes AND Anderson for those few reserve minutes.
I think it is premature to pencil in Rashard Lewis in as the 3 for the Magic.
Just b/c he is a legit 6,10″ and is more of an outside shooter like his former teamate does not mean he can handle the Point Forward role the Magic so effectively used Turkoglu at during last year’s championship run.
Lewis is not as good a ball handler as the now departed turkoglu, Carter better suits that description.
Lewis may get burned on the floor against opposing team’s 3/SF PtFwds as I he did not appear as fleet footed as Turk.
I agree that Pietrus, with his solid playoff showing, will be Almond’s stiffest competition but if Almond can show the magic how effective he can be with his size, outside shot, and general scoring ability, he may have a legit shot at sharing time at the 2 with pietrus.

This “Happy Week” made me lose my balance. My 2/3, became 3/4, but the reasons listed above stand. In addition does it benefit Almond to wave a playoff towel with the Majic or to sit at the end of the Knicks/D’Antoni’s bench. D’Antoni only plays 7-8 guys. The kid made the right choice.
